These sessions happen in a studio within the first 5-20 days of life, focusing on capturing those classic curled-up, sleepy shots. The photographer takes charge of lighting, backdrops, and props, creating a controlled environment. Parents can kick back and trust the photographer to lead the way, giving them a break from the home setting and letting creativity flow.
While blankets, props, wraps, and outfits can be used in either setting, the studio offers a more focused and distraction-free space, with the option to include parent and family posing while keeping the spotlight on the newborn.

Lifestyle newborn takes place in the comfort of your home, capturing more candid, documentary-style moments. It's about telling a story and capturing those genuine, unscripted moments that unfold naturally.
Preparing a nursery is a cherished part of pregnancy, and I make sure to capture it in all its glory during lifestyle newborn photography sessions. These sessions also provide a perfect opportunity to involve pets and siblings, capturing moments that might otherwise slip away. The atmosphere is relaxed, with the family simply going about their day while I discreetly document these precious moments.
The ideal setting for lifestyle photos is a home with light, neutral walls and furniture.
In a lifestyle newborn shoot, the focus is on the natural interactions between the baby, their family, and their environment. Unlike posed sessions, the emphasis is not on achieving the perfect pose, but on capturing the genuine moments that define this special time.

Welcoming a brand new baby into your family is an exciting time! You will want to document your babies tiny little face, toes, and little expressions. These are the moments you will want to remember forever and I would be honored to capture them for you in my studio or in your home for a more lifestyle session!
Best time to book your newborn session is a couple months in advance to make sure there is availability. Once baby is born we will finalize the actual session date. Photos are best when infants are between 5 to 14 days old, but I photograph babies of all stages and ages!
In my newborn sessions, I offer both posed and heirloom-style images, combining artistry and timeless elegance to create a collection that feels personal and distinct. Most photographers in this area do not offer this combined style. Posed portraits highlight your baby’s delicate details with those cute poses with their hand on their chin or wrapped in a bucket, while heirloom-style images bring a sense of timeless simplicity that complements any space. This thoughtful blend ensures you’ll have a gallery full of photographs that celebrate your little one in ways that feel both meaningful and beautiful.
Client closet, props, clothing, wraps, bonnets, headbands, and more are available for your customized session.

I'll take the time to understand your family's unique needs and ensure we're the right match. It's best to reserve your session during pregnancy (around 20 weeks), as I only accept a limited number of newborns each month. We will chat via email or a phone call to answer all of your questions. Sessions are either in my studio located in Guyton or your home for a lifestyle session in the comfort of your home!

We're a great match, we nailed down the location, date, and time and you're ready to secure your spot on my calendar—let's make it official! I'll send over a questionnaire, photography agreement and the invoice for your $250 session retainer.
Once this is all squared away, you will be OFFICALLY BOOKED and on the calendar!!
3. planning
And now the fun begins—let's start planning! We'll collaborate to bring your vision for your newborn session to life. We'll discuss your ideas and how you envision enjoying your photos, whether digitally, in an album, or beautifully framed on your walls. We'll pick outfits from my client closet for mom. I will provide everything for the session-hats/headbands, wraps, outfits, and props.
Now, we eagerly await the arrival of your little one. Once your baby is born, please inform me, and we'll schedule the session for when they are between 7 and 14 days old. This timing allows you to establish feeding routines while ensuring your baby is still in that wonderfully new, sleepy phase. BUT don't worry if we are outside of the 14 days! I know how things don't go as planned.
4. The big day
The day is finally here! On the morning of your session, you'll prepare your baby and head over to the studio I'll gently and safely pose your newborn and direct your family to ensure everyone is feeling comfortable and relaxed, all while showcasing your precious baby. Your newborn sets the pace, so we'll take breaks whenever needed for feeding, changing, or comforting—everything will run on baby time. Sessions typically last 2-3 hours, this gives us plenty of time for the needed baby breaks.
During the session, I'll capture your baby in various natural or posed positions, a few props, sibling, parents, and whole family.
5. your photographs
I know you are so excited to see your images!! Within a week after your session, I'll send a proofing gallery with soft edited images for you to choose from. After wiping the tears away from looking at your beautiful family, you will then select the collection that suits your family.
Your final images will be ready within 3-4 weeks after choosing a collection! You'll receive an email will access to your GORGOUS gallery! Images wanted for the archival prints, frames and artwork will be selected at this stage. Let's get those beautiful pictures into your hands and not jus on your hard drive! The last step is to enjoy your photos for generations!
Pricing is easy! It's a $250 nonrefundable session fee due at the time of booking to cover my time, talent, all pre planning, client closet, and session prep guide, etc.
After your session, you will receive an online proofing gallery. This is where you will choose which images you love!

We are so happy we found Constance and are looking forward to many years to come of her capturing beautiful memories for our family. She took newborn photos for us in July 2024 that we will cherish forever - they are stunning! Light and airy, crisp and clear - timeless. First, her communication is top notch. She contacted me quickly after inquiring on her website with a professional email and all questions immediately answered without prompting that I had in my mind - how it all works, timeline, difference in types of photos she provides, pricing - all of it. She also wants to genuinely get to know your family and goals for the photos to provide the best experience possible and meet all expectations. We had a complicated hospital stay and postpartum course and she was so flexible, caring, and checked in frequently and was able to adjust our photo session timeline to be the best to work for us. As a testament to her high skill level, she was able to capture gorgeous photos of a nearly one month old who also had colic at the time! Phew! At the photo shoot, we went to her studio. She had so many props, outfits, headbands, soothing tools and techniques for baby - everything set up. There is furniture to sit so we were able to feed and rock the baby which was so helpful. There was a changing station for her as well set up and a diaper pail. She had very soothing music on. It was a great environment! Constance had incredible patience. We never felt pressured or uncomfortable with our fussy baby and she even helped soothe multiple times which was so relieving. After, Constance kept in close contact and had an impressive turnaround time on getting the proof gallery and then the final gallery back to us. The gallery delivery is also on a very professional, beautiful, and easy to use platform. I can't say enough good things! I feel so incredibly lucky we found her. We already booked her Christmas minis as well! Look no further - you've found the perfect photographer!

We had Christmas Tree farm photos with Constance Carlton photography December 5th. The session was set up well and ran smoothly! Even with a hard headed toddler Constance kept rolling and thought outside of the box to get some wonderful photos for our family to enjoy!
Constance was thorough and patient with my newborn and two daughters. I really like how professional her communication was before, during, and after our session. She made sure there was total understanding about instructions, expectations, and payment. My 3 year old was particularly difficult on picture day, but that didn’t slow Constance down.
