4 Savannah Playgrounds for A Fantastic Day of Play!

A playground can be a wonderful resource for a family. With plenty of activities, space to run around, and equipment to challenge physically and mentally, playgrounds are a great place to learn and burn off some extra energy. Here in Savannah, we have plenty of amazing playgrounds perfect for exploring with your little one. Here are some of my favorite Savannah playgrounds!

4 Savannah Playgrounds to Connect & Play with Your Little Ones

Daffin Park

Daffin Park itself is an 80-acre park with over 100 years of history! It has some great amenities, including basketball courts, tennis courts, a swimming pool, a picnic area, and a pavilion. It’s a great place to get active! Their playground is a great space for kids to enjoy, too. It’s mostly fenced-in and has great shade for hot Savannah days. Grown-ups will be happy with the number of benches from which you can sit and watch your kids play, and nearby picnic tables are great for a quick snack break or picnic lunch. The equipment features plenty of opportunities for climbing and monkeying around and a simple slide.

Forsyth Park

Forsyth Park is the oldest park in Savannah, dating all the way back to the 1840s. Today, it’s one of the city’s most beloved areas with iconic fountains, fragrant gardens, and even live events. Their playground comprises two separate play areas, and a refreshing splash pad is nearby! Kids love the play equipment with tons of slide features to challenge their balance and abilities. Blessedly, there are bathrooms conveniently located near the playground and lots of green space for running, picnics, and other games. Just know it’s a big, busy playground area with no gates on the fences, so you’ll need to keep an eye on your little one as they play!

Lake Mayer Community Park

Lake Mayer Community Park has beautiful walking trails and gorgeous lakeside views. It has a little bit of everything, from tennis and basketball courts to a skate park, and plenty of other features to keep you busy. The playground has some exciting equipment reminiscent of mountain climbing walls that kids will love. There’s also a two-story spiral slide, bridges, and monkey bars. Take your kids on a sweet lap around the park first, and then let them burn off extra energy on the playground – it’s a win/win!

Skidaway Island State Park

Skidaway Island State Park is a fabulous place to explore Georgia’s natural beauty and take in the sights of some beautiful wildlife. There is a $5 parking fee to enter the state park, but it’s well worth it for a good chunk of time exploring and playing. Two separate play areas feature separate structures: one for bigger kids and one that is perfect for toddlers. It’s also an excellent park for a picnic and a little extra wilderness exploration!
